Playing With Moon Photography
Selecting aperture priority, tweaking your depth of field, making that unbelievably difficult decision about whether to use a wide angle or fish eye lens (fish eye! All day everyday, baby). Yep, taking photographs can be very complex and stressful. On the other hand, when you’re able to produce images as impressive as the ones below, it’s certainly worth it.
Have you ever wondered what it would be like to play with the moon? Well, In these photos amateur photographer Laurent Lavedera who is also an astronomer, has shown how people can play with the moon. Combining a love for astronomy and photography, the graduate of the Faculty of Physics has created a collection of photographs titled “Moon game.”
The photos were taken on the beach of Tréguennec, a spot where Lavender and his companion, Sabine Sannier, (the model in the pictures) regularly set up their tripod to snap the lunar disc.
The couples creativity is clear to see as a range of fun, playful and sporty poses feature throughout the gallery. The astronomers imagination is complemented by Sabine and her graphic design background, resulting in the fruit of symbiosis between a scientific and inventive mind.
Not only has Laurent now released a book, the Frenchman has also introduced these photographs of lunar games (and some other more classical photographs of the Moon) to different authors; bloggers, writers, scientists and journalists. Each of them choosing a photograph to write about in the style of their choice (poem, dialogue, history, cogitation, etc).
Impressive stuff, ay? Excuse me as I go and dust the cobwebs off my Nikon D40.
